What is a lip filler?

Lip filler is a dermal filler specially designed for the lips. Island Aesthetics & Dermatology uses Juvéderm Volbella® for lip filler injections. This dermal filler is formulated to enhance the lips, improving shape, size, and aesthetics.

Juvéderm Volbella is a hyaluronic acid gel filler. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in your body that helps your skin retain moisture. When used as a cosmetic injection, the gel-like filler adds or restores volume and moisture, enhancing your appearance.

First, they clean your lips and surrounding skin with an antiseptic agent and apply a numbing lotion to minimize discomfort during the injections. Using a thin needle, they administer the lip filler into the specific areas of your lips and massage it into place.

Your provider continues the injections until they get the desired look. Lip filler injections take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. 

You may have some redness and swelling at the site of your injections, but you should see improvements in your look immediately. Side effects resolve within a few days.

How long does a lip filler last?
