HOW DOES AN IPL HAIR REMOVAL WORK?

Like a laser, the Palomar tip works to selectively damage hair follicles by transforming light energy into heat which damages the cells responsible for hair growth.  Since the light emitted selectively targets the hair follicle, damage to the surrounding skin is minimized.

PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT:

Minimize Sun exposure – It is important no to have any tan on your skin. This includes self-tanning creams.  Please wear sunscreen when outdoors. No plucking or waxing – to treat the hair, it must be in the hair follicle. Please do not remove the hair for at least 2-3 weeks prior to treatment. Shave the day of the Treatment – The hair must be at the skin level in order for the most light and heat absorption into the hair follicle.

DURING THE TREATMENT:

Safety glasses will be worn during the treatment. A light lotion will be applied to the area and you will feel multiple hot pulses. People have described this as feeling light a hot rubber band snapping your skin.
