Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing
Tixel is a non-ablative resurfacing treatment that delivers a direct transfer of thermal energy (heat) into the skin by using a titanium plate. The treatment eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells and deposits heat deep into the dermis to tighten skin and stimulate collagen remodeling. Surrounding tissue is unaffected.
The fractional approach allows the skin to heal faster than if the entire area was treated. Healthy tighter skin grows to replace wrinkled skin. This approach lessens the recovery period and reduces the number of complications that can occur.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
CO2 laser resurfacing uses a laser to vaporize thin layers of skin, stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture, tone, and appearance,
often used to minimize wrinkles, reduce scars, and even out skin tone.
What can patients expect from a course of treatments?
An improvement in the quality, texture, and elasticity of the skin. More even skin tone, reduction in wrinkle depth. Patients often report feeling a “marked difference” after just 1 or 2 treatments, but more significant improvement will be seen 3-6 months after the series of treatments has been completed.

The Procedure
During the procedure, the treatment area is first cleansed. Next, a Tixel head is passed over the treatment area in a series of horizontal and vertical overlapping passes. Most patients experience a mild prickling or burning sensation during the process. In some cases, the provider will apply a topical anesthetic beforehand, or apply a cooling mechanism during treatment. The procedure typically takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Possible risks
As with any treatment, there are risks associated it, though they are minimized in the hands of a qualified provider. These include: Swelling | Redness | Possible Burn
What to expect after the procedure
- Feeling of heat like a “sunburn” for 1 to 5 hours post-treatment.
- Redness for 1 to 3 days, depending on settings and the number of passes. Post-treatment mineral makeup may be used as directed by your provider.
- Mild to moderate swelling for 2 to 4 days post-treatment.
- “Dot” pattern on treated skin areas.
- A dry “sand-paper” feel to the skin as it restores itself.
- Mild to moderate exfoliation, usually from day 3 post-treatment.
- The treated area/s will settle within about 4 days post-treatment (face)
- Treatments to the neck, décolleté, and hands will take longer, up to 6 days.
